Shakespeare’s Globe, on the South Bank, has been an extraordinary creative and commercial success story since its launch in 1997. Its creative and learning programmes have expanded and it has been a major contributor to the regeneration of London’s South Bank. To strengthen its commercial operations, Fourth Street was commissioned to evaluate the Globe’s financial position and to comment on its most pressing needs and most promising opportunities.
We assessed the Globe’s recent financial performance and carried out extensive consultation with the whole senior management team, as well as external advisors and commercial partners. We then made a series of short-, medium- and long-term recommendations for optimising existing operations and developing new ones. This would form the basis of a job specification for a new Commercial and Enterprise Director.
